Epoxy mix ratio chart
Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) by volume for common batch sizes. Use this only for products that are measured by volume; some epoxies give their ratio by weight, and the manufacturer's instructions always take priority.
| Mixed batch | 1:1 (A + B) | 2:1 (A + B) | 3:1 (A + B) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 fl oz (237 mL) | 4 + 4 fl oz | 5.3 + 2.7 fl oz | 6 + 2 fl oz |
| 16 fl oz (473 mL) | 8 + 8 fl oz | 10.7 + 5.3 fl oz | 12 + 4 fl oz |
| 32 fl oz (946 mL) | 16 + 16 fl oz | 21.3 + 10.7 fl oz | 24 + 8 fl oz |
| 64 fl oz (1,893 mL) | 32 + 32 fl oz | 42.7 + 21.3 fl oz | 48 + 16 fl oz |
| 128 fl oz (3,785 mL) | 64 + 64 fl oz | 85.3 + 42.7 fl oz | 96 + 32 fl oz |
Unit conversions for resin and candle making
Resin is measured by volume, candle wax and fragrance by weight. These are the US customary units the calculators use.
| Unit | Equals |
|---|---|
| 1 US gallon | 128 fl oz · 231 cubic inches · 3.785 liters |
| 1 US fluid ounce | 29.57 mL · 1.805 cubic inches |
| 1 liter | 33.81 fl oz · 61.02 cubic inches |
| 1 cubic inch | 16.39 mL · 0.554 fl oz |
| 1 ounce (weight) | 28.35 grams |
| 1 pound | 16 ounces · 453.6 grams |
| 1 kilogram | 35.27 ounces |
A fluid ounce measures volume and an ounce measures weight, and they are only the same for water. That is why an "8 oz" candle jar holds less than 8 ounces of wax, and why epoxy should be measured the way its instructions say.
Which calculator do you need?
The epoxy resin calculator finds the volume of a mold, a river table or a tabletop coat, subtracts any wood in the pour, and splits the mixed resin into Part A and Part B. The candle wax calculator turns a jar's water capacity into the weight of wax and fragrance oil to melt for a whole batch.
